r C U S C Opulent drapes
from the dining room in
the couple’s former
apartment find a new
home in the master
bedroom. Nicola never
regrets the money spent
on fabric for drapes,
because she can take
them with her and adjust
them to the next house.

Paint makes
mismatched furniture
look as if it belongs
together. Two different
nightstands from an
antiques store housed in
a barn are now the same
silt color. Painted white, a
dresser from Matthew’s
parents and one from a
store became a his-and-
hers set,
opposite top.

Nicola
painted the white bed she
bought several years ago
a daring red, turning the
bland piece into a focal
point. “Before, with the
white, it was all very
calm and neutral and
expected,” she says. “This
makes into a more
playful, whimsical space.”
f r a m e “None of the
art in the condo is
expensive,” says Nicola.
Framed postcards she
collected from England
and France fill wall space
above the bed. Above the
dressers are pictures
from Nicola’s work as a
stylist. Books and
calendars also make good
art sources.
